A Wisconsin Dells favorite for over 50 years!

In 1962 Chuck Thompson was a Wisconsin Dells Junior High teacher when he and his wife, Dianne, took on a couple new challenges.
One, they gave birth to their second daughter, and two, they decided to purchase the Edwards Pancake House, a tiny restaurant specializing in... you guessed it... pancakes!
They named their daughter Elizabeth Jane (Liz) and renamed the restaurant Mr. Pancake.
Edwards Pancake House had been a favorite with the locals for years but when Dianne, a Home Ec major, and an accomplished gourmet cook added her magic to Mr. Pancakes' menu items the restaurant's popularity quickly spread.
Being restaurateurs came naturally to the young, energetic Thompsons. They bought several other area restaurants between 1962 and 1964.
By 1964, only 2 years after opening Mr. Pancake the Thompson's restaurants were so successful Chuck retired from teaching to focus on running the restaurants.
Dianne efficiently managed the staff and the kitchens while Chuck took care of the business aspects of each location. Chuck's ever-ready smile and easy-going manner somehow seemed to make the daily challenges disappear and their determination to provide customers with delicious, affordable menu options and exceptional service became known as "The Thompson Family's Tradition of Excellence".
Over the years their daughters, Liz and Julie, often worked alongside their parents. In 1980, Liz took over managing Mr. Pancake and today, 50+ years later, it appears the third generation of Thompson's may be preparing to step-in and carry-on "The Thompson Family's Tradition of Excellence".
Tragically, Charles “Chuck” Thompson, passed away in 2012 from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a rare degenerative neurological disorder. All who had the good fortune to know Chuck Thompson will miss his big heart, humorous spirit and kind presence.
